In addition to his clinical practice and administrative roles, a former biomedical illustratorDr. Katz has championed the use of visual arts and humanities to improve patientcare and medical education.  He is the director of the HMS course “Training the Eye: Improving the Art of Physical Diagnosis,” in which students hone their physical diagnosis acumen through the study of fine arts at the Museum of Fine ArtsBostonHe serves on the FacultyExecutive Committee of the Arts and Humanities Initiative at HMS. He is the Director of the Brigham and Women’s Hospital Department of Medicine’s Center for Arts in Healthcare.
