This course is designed to train medical doctors and genetic counselors to address genetic and genomic issues in clinical settings. It will also equip participants with the skills necessary for clinical decision-making, including selecting patients for Whole Genome Sequencing (WGS) in large-scale projects, and analyzing and interpreting genomic data in a clinical context.
The International Clinical Genomic Medicine and Genetic Counseling Course will specifically focus on strategies and tools for the clinical management of genetic disorders and the analysis of genetic test results. This course is tailored for clinicians and clinical researchers who manage patients with genetic conditions. It will include a combination of classes and practical workshops, complemented by two training projects conducted remotely under the mentorship of Harvard faculty.
The International Clinical Genomic Medicine and Genetic Counseling Course includes 50-60 lectures, combining basic science and medical education in the following areas:
Basics of Genomics and Genetics
Genetic Diseases (monogenic)
Genomics of Common Diseases
Genetic Counseling & Screening
Genomic Therapeutics
Ethics and Regulatory Aspects
